Philip Anderson isn’t just a musician, A/V producer and educator — he’s also a runner, camper, meditator, husband, dad, and not in that order.

Philip has two music performance degrees and has been teaching for 20 years. His unique approach to music instruction fuses elements of mindfulness meditation and pure improvisation, encouraging students to walk the path towards mastery with a spirit of gentleness, precision, and letting go. More on this in the ‘Lessons’ tab in the menu above.

As director of production and lead instructor for Quincy Jones’ piano learning app Playground Sessions, Philip has taught millions online, including a young Billie Eilish and a not-as-young Jimmy Fallon.

The music Philip makes is heavily influenced by artists who inspire him. In the jazz sphere, improvisation master Kenny Werner embodies the philosophy and practice that Philip most admires and continues to aspire to. Like Kenny, pianists such as Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, Fred Hersch, and Glenn Zaleski display bold approaches to improvisation and yet are unafraid to play gently and settle into spaciousness with confidence.
